Having joined Haberman Ilett in the summer of 2016, it has been my pleasure to work alongside our experts, whose individual and collective reputations for quality in expert witness work continue to gain accolades. This has recently been highlighted in the Who’s Who Legal guide to expert witnesses in Arbitration 2018 which notes “London-based HABERMAN ILETT is one of the leading specialist accounting firms in the European market with six individuals recognised for their outstanding work in the arbitration field.”
The inclusion of six members of our firm demonstrates the market leading expertise of our leadership team and the strength of their reputations for delivering excellence across a variety of legal jurisdictions and sectors. From the inclusion of Philip Haberman, Frank Ilett and Liz Perks in last year’s guide, this year sees the addition of three more individuals: Valery Knyazev, partner, Vikki Wall, partner, and Debbie Revill, director.
Valery Knyazev has been involved in forensic work in the UK and emerging markets since 2005. He has been appointed the expert and testified before international arbitration tribunals and state courts on many occasions. In the context of Arbitration, he is noted by Who’s Who Legal as using his 20 years’ professional experience to provide “practical and efficient solutions” in complex damage matters.
Vikki Wall has spent 20 years as a forensic accountant and became a partner at Haberman Ilett in 2016. She has extensive experience of investment treaty disputes under ICSID and UNCITRAL rules and has been the testifying expert in cases before the UK courts and international arbitration tribunals. Vikki is praised by Who’s Who Legal for impressing clients with her “responsiveness to changing demands” and the “concise analysis of her reports”.
Debbie Revill has over 15 years’ forensic experience and now specialises in dispute work, mostly in the oil and gas and financial services sectors. Debbie is described by Who’s Who Legal as “bright, responsive and most importantly very easy to work with” and she impresses clients who note that “She truly understands the intricacies of very complex valuation assessments”.
In addition to the comments about Valery, Vikki and Debbie, Who’s Who Legal’s Arbitration listing describes Liz Perks as “simply excellent”, Frank Ilett is noted as having “a fantastic international reputation as a leading valuation expert” and Philip Haberman, as 2018’s leading arbitration expert witness in Europe, is described as being “at the very top of his field”.
This latest recognition of our leadership team highlights the dedication and quality of our growing team of expert witnesses. Each year, they provide their expertise on a number of arbitration-related cases, covering jurisdictions from South America to Africa and the CIS region, in disputes valued up to US$15 billion. As a group, the size and complexity of the arbitration cases to which they are appointed provides us, the teams that work with them, with challenging and interesting opportunities to broaden our skill set too. I am privileged and proud to be a part of such a successful team and look forward to seeing further recognition in years to come.
