Liz Perks is a partner at Haberman Ilett and an active member of women’s networks in litigation and arbitration, including Arbitral Women.  She has been involved in over 50 cases, whether acting as the accounting expert or supporting the expert.

Liz has particularly enjoyed the breadth of her 15 year career as a forensic accountant.  She has been involved in a variety of cases, including contractual disputes, investment treaty arbitrations, claims for breach of warranty and expert determinations.  She has worked on cases across a number of jurisdictions and industries, and advised at varying stages of the legal proceedings.  Whilst relishing the unique challenges of each new case, she finds her wealth of experience invaluable in providing the best advice possible to clients.

Liz’s most memorable case to date was an LCIA arbitration for breach of contract and fiduciary duty in the private equity sector.  This was the first case where she gave oral testimony.  She was excited to have the opportunity to be giving evidence in her own right and achieve this long term career ambition.

With a particular interest in valuation related disputes, Liz now leads our valuations team, and has used her wealth of experience to develop Haberman Ilett’s valuation methodology.

Besides being a Chartered Accountant, Liz also has a law degree and post graduate diploma in legal practice.  She worked for a number of years providing general accounting services including audit, corporate tax and managing business affairs for pop stars and songwriters, before specialising in dispute work, a natural choice given her academic background.
